What we offer
-
1. We inspire the children to aspire to read more often
The children are full of joy when for the first time, they read a book that they can relate to. Some of these books feature stories they told during our enjoyable storytelling sessions.
-
2. LULA preserves oral tradition through storytelling
Many folktales are embedded in many Ugandan cultures that were passed on by word of mouth from generation to generation. In the villages of Northern Uganda, many people still sit around the fireplaces and tell their children exciting stories of the Monster, Hare, and Elephant that leave the children agape. We bring these stories to life!
-
3. LULA promotes reading and writing through storytelling
The pilot project conducted by the LULA team in February 2022 showed that over 75% of children were more likely to open a book if it were a story than any other.
It even gets more exciting if they expect to see stories they can relate to.
-
4. LULA encourages Fun-Learning
“Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning” – Diane Ackeman.
Integrating games and fun activities in the classrooms excite children and attract them more to learning and reading hence in the long run improving literacy and enhancing deeper connection with the thigs they learn.
-
5. Community led enrollment campaigns and sensitization
Never underestimate the power of a community coming together to make a change!
A journey of a thousand miles begin with one step. The day a child first makes the first step to go to school becomes the day they and their parents have made a life changing decision.
-
6. We train teachers
We take pleasure in working with the teachers to see that they awaken the skills they have and apply them in the classrooms.
Our teachers are gifted and they have potential, they only need to be encouraged and told they CAN!
